The Surrounding Area The village of Lealholm, just one and a half miles away, is in the centre of the lovely Esk Valley and within the North York Moors National Park. Sheep from the moors wander freely through the village and along the banks of the river. It is a small picturesque village with post office, shop, pub, tea rooms, pottery, garage, garden centre, three churches and countryside walks in all directions. There are plenty of country inns and reasonably priced eating places in the area. There is a national rail service through the moors along the Esk Valley from Middlesbrough to Whitby, stopping at Lealholm and all villages en-route. Greenhouses is less than ten miles from the quaint fishing villages of Staithes, Runswick Bay, the sandy beaches of Sandsend and the ancient port of Whitby. The moorland and coastal scenery is some of the finest in Britain.
